French light tank “Hotchkis”

The main lightweight tank supporting cavalry junctions. It was developed in 1934 by the firm “Hotchkiss”. Maximum unified with infantry support tanks “Renault” R-35. It was produced serially from 1935 to 1940. Manufactured 1000 units. In armor protection was superior to all light tanks of the late 30’s.

The tank and self-propelled units on its base took part on the fronts of the Second World War from 1940 to 1945. After the war, a few tanks were preserved by the French gendarmerie, and the Israelis used them in battles on the Sinai Peninsula, even in 1956.
